LOS ANGELES – In a recent update, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the condition of star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who has been sidelined since suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.

While the team is hopeful for Kupp's return following their Week 6 bye, McVay urged caution, stating that "by no means is that guaranteed."

"That would be an ideal target, yes," McVay commented when asked about Kupp's potential return for the Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

He underscored that plans are still in the works: "That is something in an ideal world, yeah, he's ready to go."

McVay revealed that Kupp has been participating in "some specific work" with the Rams' medical staff ahead of the bye week.

However, he stressed that he had yet to confer with the medical team on the latest updates before his Monday press conference.

"I hope he’ll be able to practice after the bye, but until I have that conversation with the medical team, I won't be able to appropriately answer that one."

Significantly, while Kupp was expected to be out for what McVay described as "an extended period of time," the Rams opted against placing him on injured reserve.

This decision is critical, as being placed on injured reserve would mean Kupp would have to miss at least four games rather than just four weeks, making a return before Week 8 impossible.

In the two games he's played this season, Kupp has boasted impressive statistics with 18 receptions totaling 147 yards and one touchdown.

Fans are eagerly awaiting his return, as he is essential to the Rams' offensive strategy.

In other news, McVay also addressed the status of quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is currently experiencing some back soreness following the Rams' loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.

However, McVay did not anticipate any lingering effects that would limit Stafford’s capacity to practice after the bye week.

With Stafford having been sacked 16 times this season, including three times in the recent game, his physical endurance remains a key talking point.

"This guy's been playing for a long time," McVay praised. "He's as tough as it gets. He took some hits yesterday and throughout the course of his career, so I think he just had a little bit of back soreness... We don’t expect it to be something that affects his practice participation when we return."

As the Rams gear up for their upcoming games, fans are left wondering: Can the team survive without Kupp, and will Stafford be able to lead effectively with his back issues?

The answers will unfold as the season progresses. Stay tuned for more updates!
