Her friend, actress Stepfanie Kramer, confirmed that Delano died of cancer at her home in Sherman Oaks on Friday.

However, it was her role as the tough Officer Barbara Semanski on *Northern Exposure* that solidified her place in our hearts, appearing in 12 episodes from 1991 to 1995. Fans will also remember her for portraying the fierce science teacher Bobbi Glass at Jacqueline Kennedy High School in *Popular*, a character that left a lasting impression during the show's run from 1999 to 2001.

Born in Los Angeles on January 29, 1957, Delano hailed from a family connected to the entertainment industry. She was related to Myrtland Vivian LaVarre, a New York stage actor who transitioned to Hollywood under the name John Merton, thanks to the influence of legendary director Cecil B. DeMille. Her cousin Lane Bradford often took a young Delano and her cousins to the film set, undoubtedly nurturing her passion for acting from a very early age.

Starting her acting journey at just six years old, Delano honed her craft at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts/West.
