Hong Kong, October 10, 2024 – Get ready for a groundbreaking event as the first-ever World Games Series kicks off tomorrow at GO PARK Sai Sha in Hong Kong! This spectacular series is not only a celebration of athletic prowess but also a crucial qualifier for the much-anticipated World Games 2025 set to take place in Chengdu, China, from August 7-17.

From October 11 to 13, talents from 34 countries will compete passionately for coveted spots to represent their nations at the prestigious IWGA event in Chengdu. Athletes from around the globe will dazzle spectators with their skills in Cheerleading Pom Doubles, Roller Inline Freestyle (including Slalom Classic and Slalom Freestyle), and Wushu Taolu disciplines.

This historic event will feature 87 athletes, with 54 women and 33 men taking part from three esteemed International Federations: the International Cheer Union (ICU), World Skate, and the International Wushu Federation (IWF).

IWGA President José Perurena expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “The World Games Series is a milestone moment for the global sporting community. It not only serves as a stepping stone for athletes on their journey to Chengdu in 2025 but also shines a spotlight on emerging sports and athletes. Hong Kong’s incredible support sets a high standard for the Series, and we look forward to continuing this momentum.”

The upcoming World Games in 2025 promises to be thrilling, with athletes competing across 35 sports and 61 disciplines. The Hong Kong Series is offering 11 qualification spots, including:

- Cheerleading Pom, Doubles: 1 couple

- Roller Inline Freestyle, Slalom Classic: 1 man and 1 woman

- Roller Inline Freestyle, Slalom Freestyle: 1 man and 1 woman

- Wushu Taolu: 3 men and 3 women

The event, backed by the Samaranch Foundation, emphasizes the legacy of promoting sports and Olympic values globally.

The Vivere Sky Group, representing the Organizing Committee, expressed pride in hosting this inaugural series in Hong Kong. “It’s an honor to welcome these world-class athletes, and we eagerly anticipate their high-level performances,” they stated.
