HK Express Launches New Route

HK Express has officially kicked off its latest route connecting the bustling city of Hong Kong to the picturesque Penang International Airport (PEN). The inaugural flight took off on Thursday, November 21st, marking an exciting return to the Malaysian market for the low-cost carrier.

Mao highlighted Penang’s cost-effectiveness, saying, “With our competitive fares, travelers can indulge more in local experiences and delicious cuisine, truly embracing our ‘Live More’ philosophy.” Reflecting on the airline's ambitious regional strategy, Mao announced this year’s introduction of four new destinations, including not just Penang, but also Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, Clark in the Philippines, and the soon-to-be-launched Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

With a quarter of their passengers coming from the Greater Bay Area and significant milestones such as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, alongside recent visa exemption agreements, HK Express anticipates a surge in travel from mainland Chinese visitors to Penang.

The new HK Express night flights complement Cathay Pacific’s existing daily service to Penang, creating a well-rounded travel schedule that meets diverse passenger needs. This arrangement allows seamless connections for travelers using Hong Kong as a hub to over 80 global destinations within the Cathay Group network, enhancing Hong Kong's status as a vital transit point for Southeast Asian journeys.
