Exciting New Travel Route: HK Express Connects Hong Kong to Penang!
In a thrilling announcement, HK Express Airways has officially launched its much-anticipated route connecting Hong Kong to the picturesque Penang International Airport (PEN). The inaugural flight recently soared into the skies, marking HK Express's strategic re-entry into the vibrant Malaysian market – a destination that promises travelers a rich fusion of Eastern and Western cultures that they simply “Gotta Go” and experience!
In a statement highlighting the airline's commitment to affordability, HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao remarked, “As Hong Kong’s only low-cost carrier, we are dedicated to providing budget-friendly fares while enabling our customers to effortlessly explore Asia’s dynamic cities.” Mao noted that Penang stands out as a prime example of Southeast Asia’s remarkable value-for-money proposition. “With our competitive pricing, travelers can indulge in delectable local cuisine and immerse themselves in the area's rich culture, truly living the spirit of 'Live More.'”
Mao emphasized the importance of the Southeast Asian market for HK Express, revealing that this year alone has witnessed the launch of four new destinations, including Penang, as well as Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, Clark in the Philippines, and a forthcoming service to Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Notably, a quarter of HK Express customers currently hail from the Greater Bay Area. The timing is also significant, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, as well as the recent extension of visa exemptions between the two nations. This new route is expected to attract a wave of mainland Chinese travelers to Penang, enhancing cultural exchange and tourism opportunities between the regions.
In addition to HK Express, Cathay Pacific currently operates daily flights between Hong Kong and Penang. The nighttime offerings by HK Express serve to complement this service, ensuring seamless connectivity for passengers traveling to over 80 global destinations operated by the Cathay Group, all via Hong Kong.
Vietjet Launches New Route from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur
Adding to the excitement in Southeast Asia, Vietjet has inaugurated a direct service that will connect Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur. This newly minted route is expected to bolster economic, cultural, and tourism ties between Vietnam and Malaysia, as well as across the broader Southeast Asian region. The launch ceremony was graced by Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam during an official visit to Malaysia.
The introduction of this route comes at a pivotal time as Vietnam and Malaysia elevate their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, unlocking new opportunities for collaboration and growth. The Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur route aims to enhance regional aviation connectivity while further enriching economic and cultural cooperation.
Vietjet will operate seven round trips a week, with the inaugural service slated to begin on November 28, 2024. This new route is Vietjet’s second link connecting Vietnam and Malaysia, following the Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur route established in 2016. With this new addition, Vietjet's offerings between the two countries will double, providing a total of 14 round trips each week to cater to the surging travel demand.
Leaders from both Vietnam and Malaysia have praised this new route, expressing optimism that it will significantly enhance bilateral cooperation, deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership, and promote shared growth within the ASEAN community.
