Familial Turmoil: John Amos' Will Controversy Uncovered by Daughter and Associates

2024-10-03

John Amos’ family is embroiled in a shocking controversy following his passing, with his daughter, Shannon Amos, making serious allegations against her brother, K.C. According to Shannon, K.C. allegedly colluded with two other individuals to manipulate their father’s will shortly before his death, which has raised eyebrows and prompted further investigation into the actor's final days.

In an emotional appearance on “TMZ Live,” Shannon was joined by John's former business manager, Paul Baldassarre, along with other close family members, to voice their concerns regarding the unsettling circumstances surrounding the death of the beloved “Good Times” star.

Shannon revealed that her father was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2016, a condition that likely made him vulnerable to manipulation. She claims that K.C. moved in with John during this period and restricted his access to other family members, even going so far as to monitor the actor's phone calls. Shannon has accused K.C. of utilizing his brother’s deteriorating mental state for personal gain, stating that his alleged struggles with drug addiction exacerbated familial tensions, resulting in a complete estrangement from other relatives.

Adding to the complexity of this situation, Baldassarre – who previously served as John’s business manager – claimed that he and two other individuals were initially designated as John's powers of attorney. However, he asserts that K.C. took over this role without any consultation, an action that raises further legal concerns.

Shannon alleged, “My uncle was actually the head of his estate and he had to execute five wills because my brother would come in and have him sign papers, effectively undoing everything.” This speaks volumes about the potential for coercion during John’s vulnerable moments.

When K.C. announced their father's death through a public statement, he claimed John had passed away from natural causes in Los Angeles. Shannon expressed her frustration at learning of her father's death via the media, particularly noting that there was a troubling 45-day gap before the announcement was made. She also revealed that K.C. arranged for John to be cremated just nine days after his death, without holding a funeral or even informing the rest of the family – a decision she suspects was made to preclude the possibility of an autopsy.

Shannon remarked, “I think that my brother had him cremated quickly so that law enforcement couldn't intervene and the family couldn't ask for an autopsy. We knew that my father had congestive heart failure, and we know he wasn’t in any hospice care.”

Last year, Shannon formally accused K.C. of elder abuse, an allegation that both K.C. and their father denied at the time. Tensions escalated further when K.C. was arrested in July 2023 for making threats against Shannon, leading her to fear for her safety.

Despite the furious public disputes, the Amos family has insisted that their fight is not about financial gain but rather a quest for truth and accountability. In honor of their father, the family is preparing to hold a memorial service for John Amos on November 23rd in New Jersey, with further details expected soon.

This unfolding saga raises critical questions about the integrity of legal documents and the responsibilities of family members during vulnerable times. As the investigation continues, many are left wondering: Can the truth about John Amos' final wishes truly come to light?
