He further clarified, “The Cooper family is still based in Medford, and it makes more narrative sense for characters like Mary and Meemaw to make appearances. Sheldon is now in California, which complicates his involvement. Any entry he makes into the story would need to serve a greater purpose. We have to remember from The Big Bang Theory that Sheldon didn’t come home frequently; Georgie was often left to shoulder the family’s emotional burdens.”
