HONG KONG, Nov. 23, 2024 – The evening of November 22 marked a significant event for the tech community as the prestigious Hong Kong ICT Awards 2024 took place, honoring outstanding innovations in the information and communications technology sector.

MTR Corporation and HKUST triumphed with their groundbreaking project, "Public transport ridership simulation and railway planning – MTR to Keep Cities Moving," clinching the Smart Mobility Grand Award and outshining seven other competitors in the category.
During his remarks, Mr. Chan emphasized the importance of the ICT Awards in showcasing the creativity and dedication of local tech innovators. He remarked, "These awards shine a spotlight on the remarkable talent and efforts of individuals harnessing technology to enhance our lives and improve services, all while striving to build a better world."
A highlight of this year’s awards was the introduction of the "Best Use of AI" accolade, underscoring the Hong Kong government's recognition of artificial intelligence as a transformative force that can significantly boost productivity and economic competitiveness.
The government is committed to fostering AI's growth by supporting groundbreaking research, nurturing startups, encouraging cross-industry collaboration, and developing critical infrastructures such as a supercomputing centre.
