In an exciting new development for students, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong has announced that the opening hours for study rooms in public libraries will be extended, providing a crucial boost for those preparing for examinations. From March 1 to May 31, 2025, these extended hours are aimed specifically at supporting students during the intense exam period.

Application Process

Students eager to take advantage of this service can begin applying for admission cards today! Applications can be submitted in person or via post, and all necessary forms and guidelines are readily available at participating libraries and through the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) website.

Important Dates

Mark your calendars! The deadline for applications is February 3, 2025, with the postmark on your envelope indicating your application date. Successful applicants will find their results posted between February 21 and February 28 at their respective libraries.

Eligibility Criteria

It’s important to note that only registered borrowers of HKPL are eligible to apply, with priority given to those sitting for crucial public and professional examinations. Each student is limited to one application and may select from various study sessions.

Study Period Access

During the key study period from March 1 to May 7, holders of admission cards can access the libraries during morning, afternoon, and evening sessions on designated weekdays and weekends. However, after May 8, the doors will open to all on a first-come, first-served basis without the need for admission cards—perfect for last-minute cramming!

Multilocation Initiative

This initiative will span multiple public library locations across Hong Kong. However, please be aware that the HKPL retains the right to alter opening hours or admission protocols in response to public health considerations or unforeseen circumstances.
