Experiencing the Best Stopover at Hong Kong International Airport

If you’re considering a transit through one of Asia's busiest airports, look no further than Hong Kong. My recent journey from London to Singapore took a delightful turn when I had the chance to explore Cathay Pacific's exclusive lounge, "The Pier."

Navigating the Transfer Experience

After departing from London Heathrow on British Airways, with stops in Stockholm and Helsinki, I found myself making my way through the efficient and well-organized Hong Kong International Airport. Despite arriving in the busy evening hours, the airport’s layout offers an accessible path for transfer passengers like myself.

Upon my arrival in Hong Kong, I quickly followed the signs to the transfer area, eager to head to The Pier Lounge. However, it turned out that I needed my boarding pass reissued, a requirement by Cathay Pacific if you want lounge access. A bit of back-and-forth walking ensued, but at last, a friendly airport staff member directed me to the correct W1 transfer desk for assistance.

After a brief wait, I obtained my new boarding pass and was informed about the amenities at The Pier, making the process much smoother than it initially seemed.

The freshly prepared dishes included various kinds of dim sum, fried rice, and steamed buns that made it hard to stick to just one serving.

What impressed me further were dedicated tea stations where I could experience premium Jing loose-leaf teas, paired perfectly with delectable egg custard tarts. The quality of food and drinks available exceeded my expectations and truly showcased the essence of Hong Kong's cuisine.

As my departure approached, I savored the last bites and took advantage of the lounge’s amenities. After recharging both physically and mentally, I checked the flight status, only to hear the announcement for boarding.

A Smooth Transition to Singapore

Leaving The Pier Lounge felt bittersweet, but knowing I was heading to Singapore, excitement surged. The boarding gate was conveniently located next door, resulting in a seamless transition from relaxation to my Cathay Pacific flight CX715.

Once on board and seated in business class, the anticipation of a short flight filled the cabin. Cathay Pacific truly knows how to pamper its passengers, ensuring a comfortable experience from start to finish.
