Hong Kong’s WinterFest: A Festive Transformation of Iconic City Landmarks

Hong Kong – The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has partnered with Grey Hong Kong, Hongkong Post, and Carat Hong Kong to breathe new life into this year’s WinterFest, transforming everyday city icons into festive highlights designed to spread joy throughout the metropolis.

Winter in Hong Kong is no stranger to breathtaking displays, with its iconic skyline glimmering with lights and holiday decorations. However, this year, a wave of excitement has enveloped the city as familiar sights are reimagined to offer unexpected surprises.

Rick Kwan, the executive creative director of Grey Hong Kong, emphasized the spirit of the season, stating, “Winter is a time for joy and connection, and WinterFest is about introducing a new kind of surprise to the traditional holiday season. We wanted to highlight the beauty of Hong Kong's rich cultural traditions while showing how even ordinary sights, like mailboxes and trams, can evoke wonder when creatively reinterpreted.”

Unique transformations include Hongkong Post’s mailboxes — now known as ‘Postmas Trees’ — which have been tastefully adorned to add a splash of holiday cheer. The iconic tram, a beloved symbol of the city, now shares its jingle with a festive twist, delighting commuters and tourists alike. Furthermore, classic postcards have been reimagined with festive filters to showcase Hong Kong’s enchanting seasonal beauty from a fresh angle.

Samantha Fan, general manager for marketing at the Hong Kong Tourism Board, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Our goal is to showcase the unique charm of Hong Kong while spreading festive joy throughout the city this WinterFest season. This innovative collaboration with Hongkong Post has allowed us to infuse holiday spirit into our city’s recognizable landmarks, celebrating Hong Kong’s creativity and making this season even more delightful.”
