Grand Canyon University (GCU) women’s basketball team is making headlines this season, especially thanks to their dynamic head coach, Molly Miller. The Lopes have achieved a monumental milestone by securing their first-ever spot in the NCAA Tournament with a thrilling 65-62 victory over UT-Arlington.

Miller, in her fifth year at GCU, has guided the Lopes to their first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament title, a remarkable feat that has excited fans and added to her growing reputation. After the intense victory, a video surfaced showcasing Miller celebrating with her team in a jubilant post-game moment, dancing and enjoying a playful ice bath in the locker room. The footage quickly went viral, with comments flooding in about her infectious energy and charm. The Lopes wrapped up their phenomenal season with an impressive 32-2 record and an undefeated conference streak of 16-0, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with in collegiate basketball. They will enter the NCAA Tournament as the 13th seed and are set to face fourth-seeded Baylor at the Foster Pavilion on March 21, marking a historic step for the program.

Miller's coaching journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Before taking the reins at GCU, she started all four years as a point guard at Drury University, where she left a significant mark in the history books as the fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,570 points. In addition, she boasts impressive career numbers in assists and steals.

After her stint as a marketing director, Miller returned to Drury as an assistant coach before taking the head coach position at just 28 years old. Under her leadership, the Lopes reached the Division II Final Four in 2019, and she maintained an undefeated 32-0 season in the 2019-20 campaign.

Beyond the court, Miller balances her professional commitments with family life alongside her husband Derek. The couple shares a daughter, Crosby June, and a son, Cy Carter. Additionally, Miller has a strong legacy in high school basketball as she led Kickapoo High School to two state championships.
