Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has officially opened a new consultant office in Izmir, the vibrant third largest city in Türkiye. This significant development aims to amplify InvestHK's presence in rapidly growing markets throughout the region.

Opened on January 1st, this office is part of a strategic initiative by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to enhance its investment outreach and support overseas businesses interested in expanding to Hong Kong.

Previously, InvestHK has operated an office in Istanbul since 2006, focusing on drawing in corporations and investments from Türkiye into Hong Kong. Alpha Lau, the Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, highlighted the strategic positioning of Izmir, situated at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, which provides an excellent launchpad for penetrating emerging markets.

In alignment with initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, Türkiye has garnered attention as a critical hub for global trade, logistics, and manufacturing. Lau stated that this new office symbolizes InvestHK’s intensified efforts to showcase the various opportunities Hong Kong presents to Turkish businesses eager to expand.

The new Izmir office will collaborate closely with the Istanbul branch to foster synergies aimed at attracting more Turkish corporates to establish their foothold in Hong Kong. Neşe Seçer, Principal Consultant at the Istanbul office, remarked on Türkiye's immense economic potential, particularly in thriving sectors like renewable energy, software development, IT services, maritime, and biotechnology.

This expansion aligns with the broader vision outlined in the newly released 2024-25 budget, which explicitly targets the enhancement of Hong Kong's economic relationships with the Middle East. With growing economic prospects in Türkiye and the robust infrastructure in Izmir, this move is set to open new pathways for investment and collaboration.

In summary, as Hong Kong strengthens its position in the international investment arena, companies in Türkiye are presented with new opportunities to engage and expand their operations in a globally competitive hub. Stay tuned for the economic shifts this partnership could spark!
