In a dramatic turn of events in Jaffa, Tel Aviv, an Israeli military reservist has been hailed a “hero” for his courageous actions during a brutal attack that left seven people dead and 16 others injured. The tragic incident unfolded on Jerusalem Boulevard, just moments before Iran launched a massive missile strike on Israel, marking one of the largest assaults in the region's history.

The complexity of Tuesday's attack was highlighted not only by the chaos on the ground but also by the concurrent barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles from Iran, overwhelming the nation’s defenses and sending citizens scrambling to find safety in bomb shelters.

Lev Kreitman, the reservist who confronted the assailants, had previously survived the horrific Hamas attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, which claimed approximately 1,200 lives and saw around 250 individuals abducted to Gaza. Kreitman, who served for six months in Gaza, could be seen in video footage taken from a nearby building, brandishing a firearm in a pink shirt and flip-flops while attempting to evade the gunmen.

In a heartfelt interview with CNN-affiliate Channel 11, Kreitman recounted the harrowing moment he spotted two armed assailants. “I understood straight away it was an attack,” he said, recalling how he took decisive action to protect those around him amidst the chaos. “I tried to do my best in the very crazy situation, amid alarms, missiles, and interceptions in the sky,” he stated.

The attackers initiated their rampage on passengers of a light rail car, attacking indiscriminately as they moved along Jerusalem Boulevard. Israeli security forces and armed civilians intervened quickly, using their own weapons to take down one of the gunmen, identified as Muhammad Mask, 19, who was ultimately killed at the scene. The second assailant, Ahmed Himoni, 25, was gravely injured. Both men were reported residents of Hebron, a Palestinian city in the occupied West Bank. Hamas later claimed responsibility for the assault.

In the aftermath of the violence, Israeli authorities moved to apprehend individuals suspected of aiding the attackers in weapon procurement and logistics.
