IVINS, Utah — Day two of the PGA Tour's exciting Black Desert Championship in Ivins unfolded with electric atmosphere as locals and visitors alike relished the rare opportunity to witness top-tier pro golf right in the heart of southern Utah.

For the enthusiastic Utah residents, this marked the first chance in a staggering 61 years to engage with the elite players of men’s golf in the Beehive State. Meanwhile, golf fans who traveled from across the nation and beyond marveled at the opportunity to witness the sport amidst the breathtaking vistas of red rock country.

Among the attendees was Arizona native Steve Schaffer, celebrating his bachelor party alongside his father, Jeff. However, his fiancée was notably absent. "My fiancée loves to play, but maybe not as obsessively as I do," Steve shared. "This weekend is all about enjoying golf, playing a bit ourselves, and making memories with friends."

His father noted the striking beauty of the surroundings, saying, "It’s hard to focus on the golf when the landscape around you is so captivating."

The scenery indeed evoked awe, as local artist Tommy Stirland took in the picturesque views with his son, Harvey. "Having a PGA event here in my hometown is pretty special," Stirland remarked. "The visual appeal is unlike anything else in the world — the striking contrast of black rocks against the vibrant red landscape."

Stirland is also celebrating the milestone of St. George native Jay Don Blake, who played in his 500th PGA Tour event during the championship. While Blake did not make the cut for the weekend’s final rounds, the local legend was thrilled to compete in his hometown for the first time in his long and illustrious career. "He truly is a local legend," Stirland said proudly.

Teigen Jewkes, a golf enthusiast and resident of the small town of Elmo, population 418, expressed amazement at the professionalism on display. "This is a whole new level of golf. The way they control their shots and ball flights is surreal. Watching this live is a different experience altogether," he said.

In a celebratory gesture, bachelor Steve addressed the camera with a heartfelt shout-out to his fiancée: "I can’t wait to marry you next month!" before heading off to enjoy the golf, the stunning scenery, and some more memorable moments with his friends.

This year's PGA Tour in Ivins is proving to be an unforgettable experience, leaving attendees excited for what’s to come and eager for future events that showcase the beauty and talent of golf in the stunning landscapes of southern Utah. Stay tuned as the championship continues to unfold, promising more thrilling moments and awe-inspiring sights!
