Get ready for a blast from the past! Jack Black is set to host *Saturday Night Live* for the first time in nearly 20 years on April 5, and he admits that the excitement is keeping him awake at night!

Just days before his appearance, the beloved actor, comedian, and musician stopped in London for the premiere of *A Minecraft Movie*. Reflecting on returning to the iconic Studio 8H, Black shared with Variety that it feels "cray cray" to step back into a role he last filled on December 17, 2005, when he was promoting Peter Jackson’s *King Kong*—a moment that seems like lifetimes ago.

When asked how he is getting ready for this monumental week, Jack revealed, "Just you know, having lots of nightmares and night terrors and also fond memories flooding back. It’s crazy, very exciting." He also noted that he has no clear idea of what direction his sketches will take, a hallmark of the high-energy show. "You know what they’re thinking about right now? They are just all in a dead coma from last night’s show," Black joked. "Maybe some of them are thinking of ideas, but I really think it’s one of those shows they put together in one week, and that’s part of the excitement."

Black affectionately referred to the current cast as "all those kids," humorously adding, "I call them kids because I was on that show before some of them were born—except for Kenan [Thompson], we’re around the same age. That’s about it." It’s clear that the comedy landscape has evolved significantly since his last stint as host!

This will be Black's third time hosting *SNL*, having previously taken the reins in 2002 and 2003. This time, he’s promoting *A Minecraft Movie*, which opens on April 4. Black stars as expert crafter Steve, navigating a thrilling plot where he teams up with an eclectic group of misfits—including Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and newcomer Sebastian Hansen—as they are unexpectedly pulled into the Overworld of the hit video game.

Before landing this exciting role, Jack confessed, "I did do some Minecraft gaming, yes! I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but yeah, I know my way around a Minecraft universe." Showcasing his talents, Black will also perform an original song titled “I Feel Alive,” which he co-wrote with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. The song features legendary drummer Dave Grohl, adding an exciting edge to the movie’s soundtrack.

"I'm very excited about that one," he said, reminiscing about the collaborative process. “Cale [Boyter], our producer, was like, ‘We need a big song at the end, something that wraps up the whole movie.’ And I was like, ‘I can’t write a song that wraps up the whole movie.’ But then it all came together!"

With such enthusiasm and nostalgia surrounding his *SNL* return, it's sure to be an unforgettable night. Don’t miss Jack Black’s comeback on April 5 for a dose of hilarious sketches and surprises that are bound to leave audiences on the edge of their seats!
