LANDOVER, Md.

– Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels made an unforgettable impression on the media, sporting a diamond-studded No. 5 chain around his neck. Over the past month, teammates have likened him to Superman, attributing his prowess to their newly realized four-game winning streak.

"He's been our Superman," said safety Jeremy Reaves, capturing the essence of Daniels’ impact.

Despite facing some challenges on the field, Daniels showcased his remarkable talent, igniting a wave of excitement among teammates as the Commanders secured a resounding 34-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns. With this win, Washington reached a surprising 4-1 record for the first time since 2008.

"We can be a really scary team," acknowledged linebacker Bobby Wagner, hinting at the squad's rising potential.

Remarkably, the Commanders have already equalled their total wins from last season and have dominated their last two games with an aggregate victory margin of 49 points, leading into a pivotal Week 6 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

"The vibes in here are really high," receiver Terry McLaurin noted, reflecting the renewed spirit within the organization. Long-time players find it hard to believe this turnaround, having endured numerous challenges, including multiple investigations into former owner Dan Snyder.

“We haven’t had a winning season since 2016, and I was still in middle school then,” said Reaves, who joined the franchise in 2018.

Defensive tackle Jon Allen, now in his eighth season, remarked on the seismic shift in the team's atmosphere, stating, "It's night and day."

A significant portion of this transformation is attributed to Daniels. He has become the first player in NFL history to throw for over 1,000 yards and rush for at least 250 yards in his first five games, setting a record for the highest completion percentage (82.1%) in his first four games of a season.

Even when he had an off day, where completed 14 of 25 passes, Daniels still made crucial plays. On several occasions, he left opposing defenders in frustration, including a stunning 66-yard connection with McLaurin after sidestepping a blitz from the Browns' defense.

Daniels showed agility, rushing for 82 yards—including an impressive 34-yard scamper—and connecting with receiver Dyami Brown for a 41-yard touchdown reception.

"He's a competitor," said running back Austin Ekeler. "He's going to show us amazing things all year long."

Yet, nuances of his rookie status were evident; Daniels threw an interception at the goal line and wasn’t as precise in his passing. However, the defense shone bright against a struggling Browns offense, racking up seven sacks, limiting them to 212 yards, and forcing a dismal 1-of-13 on third downs—allowing just 27 points in the last two weeks combined.

For the first time in years, players are relishing their time on the field together, embracing the fun of football once more. After a sack, center Tyler Biadasz was spotted mimicking a teammate's celebration, underscoring the relaxed yet determined atmosphere within the locker room.

"I'm thrilled to witness such a positive culture," said right guard Sam Cosmi, in his fourth year with the Commanders. "It’s refreshing to be part of something that feels good."

The energy radiated into the stands, creating an almost surreal home-field advantage absent in recent seasons. Allen credited head coach Sean Quinn for that uplifted atmosphere.

Daniels' electrifying performances have captivated not just Washington fans, but viewers nationwide. "People back home in Florida are messaging me about him—it's crazy!" Reaves shared, emphasizing the buzz surrounding the Commanders.

Despite the excitement, Daniels maintains a grounded outlook. According to those close to him, he didn't arrive in Washington simply to celebrate early victories. "I'm just excited for those guys to feel this way," he noted. "But now we have to focus on the next challenge."

As the Commanders continue their journey, the team and fans alike are experiencing an exhilarating revival, led by their very own Superman.
