EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- As the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for a fresh season under new head coach JJ Redick, the team kicked off training camp with a unique bonding dinner in Beverly Hills. Lakers guard Max Christie expressed the importance of this team-building exercise. "It was kind of the first time that we all really got together as a team in one setting," he shared. "Great first day,” James noted, highlighting Redick's detailed approach in practice. Having exchanged only sporadic messages with Redick over the summer, James is focused on learning the new system in tandem with his teammates.

The new coach reiterated that he plans to stick with the same starting lineup—comprising James, Davis, Austin Reaves, D'Angelo Russell, and Rui Hachimura—that concluded last season strong. Redick intends to implement a nine-man rotation, creating competition for spots among the remaining players. He mentioned key names like Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes, and rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino among those vying for roles, showcasing a depth of talent within the roster.

Christie’s performance during training garnered attention from Redick, who stated, "Christie is a guy who's earned our coaching staff's trust over the last two months." The young player recently signed a four-year contract worth $32 million, a move James applauded, noting, "I think Max will be a big part of our rotation. He's gotten better and better."

Christie, who was selected 35th overall in the 2022 draft, averaged 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds last season and is eager to solidify his role in the league. "I think for me it's kind of just proving myself again. I want to put a whole season together. Hopefully, I get the opportunity to do that this year," he stated.
