A myriad of Microsoft services, including Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, and the Microsoft Store, faced significant outages over the past day, leaving countless users unable to access essential tools for work and communication.

Reports of these outages began surging around 8 AM ET, peaking by noon as the workweek commenced. Many users reported issues with accessing Exchange Online and functionalities within Microsoft Teams, aligning with the busiest time for many as they resumed work after the weekend.

According to the official Microsoft 365 Status account on X (formerly Twitter), the tech giant became aware of the situation early, when they initiated an investigation around 4 AM ET. However, the broader problems escalated as more users tried to log in later in the morning.

Microsoft confirmed they identified the root cause of the outages and had started deploying a fix by 1:05 PM ET. Progress, however, has been slower than anticipated, resulting in continued disruptions for many users. By around 11:51 PM ET, Microsoft reported that the patch had reached approximately 98% of the affected environments, yet many remained unable to fully use the services.

Despite their efforts, Outlook users continued to face delivery delays even as other services were restored by late afternoon. Reports of outages on DownDetector began to decline by 2:57 PM ET, indicating a possible return to normalcy, yet Microsoft cautioned that some issues may persist.

Microsoft has communicated that while most services have resumed operating normally, lingering issues with Outlook are expected to take additional time to resolve. The tech giant is diligently working on finalizing their recovery efforts and encourages users to remain patient as they address the last remaining issues.
