This innovative tool will assist in future flight tests of the X-59, a quiet supersonic demonstrator. By gathering essential data on the shock waves created by the X-59, the probe will help verify its ability to soar through the skies faster than sound while delivering just a faint thump.

Trailblazing Solar Electric Propulsion Technology

NASA has also kicked off acceptance hot fire testing for the first of three advanced 12-kW Solar Electric Propulsion thrusters. Set to operate for around 50 hours in a vacuum facility, these thrusters are pivotal for upcoming exploration missions targeting the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Preparation for Artemis II: Big Moves at Kennedy

Over at NASA Kennedy Space Center, the interim cryogenic propulsion stage destined to launch Orion and the Artemis II crew around the Moon has been transported to the Vehicle Assembly Building.
