Veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV is attracting significant attention from several NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, and Boston Celtics. According to reports from Marc Stein, these teams are considering Walker as a potential addition to their rosters as they gear up for the playoffs.

Previously, Walker was a part of the Boston Celtics' training camp roster, signed under an Exhibit 10 deal, but was released just before the start of the 2024/25 NBA regular season. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, the dynamic wing player isn’t currently a free agent. Instead, he is actively playing for Zalgiris Kaunas in the Lithuanian EuroLeague, having opted to decline a chance to play with the Maine Celtics, Boston's NBA G League affiliate.

However, Walker’s time in Europe may be short-lived. His contract with Zalgiris includes a $450,000 buyout clause that allows him to return to the NBA if any team extends an offer before February 18. Notably, other EuroLeague clubs, such as Real Madrid and Maccabi Tel Aviv, expressed interest in acquiring him, but Walker has chosen to showcase his talents in Lithuania.

While the Celtics boast a star-studded lineup, the other teams eyeing Walker—each in need of a scoring boost off the bench—could greatly benefit from his skill set. His ability to score in bunches makes him a valuable asset for squads aiming for a playoff push.

During his six seasons in the NBA, Walker has played for teams such as the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers, with his most recent stint being with the Brooklyn Nets. Last season, he appeared in 58 games for the Nets, coming off the bench to contribute with averages of 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.6 steals per game while shooting an impressive 42.3% from the field, 38.4% from three-point range, and 76.3% from the free-throw line.

As playoff season approaches, the question remains: will Lonnie Walker IV make his long-awaited return to the NBA? Keep an eye on this developing situation, as multiple teams are interested in bringing back this promising scorer.
