Refund Eligibility for Pyrex Customers

Thousands of Pyrex enthusiasts may not realize they’re eligible for a refund from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Over 10,200 customers who purchased specific measuring cups branded as "Made in USA" but actually made in China could be in line to receive checks totaling more than $88,000.

The FTC Settlement with Instant Brands

This unexpected windfall arises from a 2023 settlement between the FTC and Instant Brands, the parent company of Pyrex. The agency accused Instant Brands of misleading customers by falsely promoting that all of their popular glass measuring cups were domestically produced when, in reality, a significant number were imported from China.

Allegations Against Instant Brands

According to allegations, Instant Brands sold over 110,000 measuring cup sets to U.S. consumers that were indeed made in China instead of the U.S. Such practices were rampant between March 2021 and May 2022, as the company struggled to keep up with escalating demand on platforms like Amazon. To alleviate this pressure, they resorted to sourcing cups from overseas rather than maintaining their American-made commitments.

Settlement Details and Consumer Protection

As part of the FTC settlement, Instant Brands was hit with a $129,416 judgment. Furthermore, they were mandated to adhere to strict guidelines regarding product claims related to their manufacturing origins, including stipulations on unqualified and qualified claims about U.S. production.

Refund Distribution

Refund checks to eligible Pyrex customers are being issued from the settlement funds allocated for this judgment. If you're one of the lucky purchasers, keep an eye out for your compensation!

Consumer Rights Reminder

Stay informed and protect your rights as a consumer—investigate whether you might be entitled to your share of the refund! This situation serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of holding corporations accountable for accurate advertising practices.
