Born in Michigan, Hale graced the screens of "General Hospital" from 1995 until 2010 and starred in "Port Charles" from 1997 to 2000. His talents were first showcased on the long-running series "Ryan’s Hope," where he played Dr. Roger Coleridge from 1975 to 1989. Hale also made brief appearances on "Search for Tomorrow," contributing to his extensive resume in the soap opera genre.

Hale's remarkable performances earned him two Daytime Emmy nominations in 1979 and 1980 for his work on "Ryan's Hope." Beyond the soap world, he was featured in significant film roles, including Frank Sturgis in the iconic political drama "All the President’s Men." His impressive television career also included guest appearances on famous shows like "Matlock" and "MacGyver," showcasing his versatility as an actor. His last known role was in the 2017 film "The Ghost and the Whale."

A graduate of Furman University, Hale was also involved with the local arts scene, performing in plays at Columbia’s Trustus Theatre, a company co-founded by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kay Thigpen.
