In a tense moment for the Kansas City Royals, infielder Jonathan India exited the game against the Guardians due to a concerning bout of right quad tightness. Thankfully, manager Matt Quatraro revealed post-game that the tightness was classified as "mild," raising hopes that a stint on the injured list might be avoided.

The 28-year-old India, once a regular second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds, has transitioned to the Royals after a significant trade. Now splitting his time between third base and left field while taking on the leadoff spot, India has struggled offensively, hitting just .216/.333/.275 in his first 14 games. However, with impressive plate discipline—boasting identical 13.3% strikeout and walk rates—there's optimism that his performance will improve with more at-bats.

As India’s status is evaluated further, the Royals might need to prepare for a few days without him. If that’s the case, expect Maikel Franco to step up at third base, while outfield duties could fall to Cavan Biggio and Drew Waters.

This outfield shakeup comes just days after veteran Mark Canha landed on the injured list with an adductor strain. Fortunately, this injury is also deemed mild, and Quatraro has indicated that Canha’s absence shouldn’t be prolonged beyond the minimum stay.

Acquired by the Royals from the Brewers just before the season, Canha has shown promise, boasting an impressive .357/.471/.500 batting line in his first seven games. With the outfield struggling for production, he is expected to significantly increase his role once he returns from injury.

If India does face a stint on the injured list, Canha may well be stepping in for him upon his return to the field. As the Royals navigate these injury challenges, fans will be watching closely to see how this affects the team's performance moving forward.
