A Tradition of Predicting Cardinals' Draft Picks

The anticipation for The Gambo 5 is palpable each year, and it all started back in 2017 when we accurately predicted Hasson Reddick as the first-round choice and Budda Baker in the second. Since then, the requests keep pouring in as the draft approaches.

A Track Record of Success

Our Gambo 5 selections have consistently hit the mark. In 2018, we predicted that Josh Rosen would be the only quarterback requiring a trade-up, and we successfully named Christian Kirk as a draft choice. More recently, we forecasted Isaiah Simmons in 2020 and Zaven Collins in 2021.

The Challenge of This Year's Draft

Despite my reservations every year about the workload, I always find myself compiling a list of five players I believe the Cardinals will grab. This season will be particularly challenging, with the Cardinals picking at 16th amidst a draft full of uncertainty and little star power.

The Elimination Process Begins

Entering the fray, I consult the Arizona Sports Mock Draft Tracker, which suggests 25 possible candidates for the Cardinals. My approach is to eliminate positions I believe they won’t prioritize—like wide receiver and cornerback—ruling out names like Jahdae Barron and Luther Burden III.

Focusing on Offensive and Defensive Lines

With the cornerbacks and receivers off the list, my focus shifts to the offensive and defensive lines, where the Cardinals are likely to show interest. I initially had seven prospects but narrowed it down through elimination to showcase The Gambo 5, with an honorable mention as well.

Presenting The Gambo 5

Here’s the lineup I believe the Cardinals will consider at 16: - **Tyler Booker, Alabama G** – 6’5”, 321 lbs, a mauler on the interior with impressive college accolades. - **Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas OT** – 6’5”, 315 lbs, recipient of the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award, known for his left tackle prowess. - **Josh Simmons, Ohio State OT** – 6’5”, 317 lbs, a versatile lineman with connections to the Cardinals’ coaching staff. - **Walter Nolen, Ole Miss DL** – 6’4”, 296 lbs, showcased stellar season stats and earned All-American honors. - **Mykel Williams, Georgia Pass Rusher** – 6’5”, 260 lbs, with significant sack and TFL numbers, he’s a proven athlete.

Honorable Mention: Derrick Harmon, Oregon DT

The 6’4”, 313 lbs Harmon had a breakout season at Oregon, making a mark that can't be overlooked. This Gambo 5 list is particularly tactical, heavily leaning on both offensive and defensive lines. The road ahead may be uncertain, but I’m excited to see how this draft unfolds. Let's hope the Cardinals make some wise choices!
