Kate first noticed back pain in 2020, attributing it to poor posture or too much exercise. According to her sister, Kelly, it wasn't until May 2021, when the pain spread to her hip, that she sought medical help. At the local hospital in Devon, doctors dismissed her pain as "probably sciatica," considering her one of the youngest patients they had seen with the condition.

The Life-Altering Discovery

Frustrated with her ongoing pain, Kate sought a private MRI scan in July 2021. The results were shocking: a large, grapefruit-sized tumor in her pelvis, along with numerous deposits on her spine. This devastating revelation was followed by a diagnosis of Ewing sarcoma on August 3, 2021, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

A Rapid Decline

Despite undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy and emergency radiotherapy, Kate's health took a rapid downturn beginning in January 2022. The once-optimistic outlook quickly faded as the cancer spread aggressively throughout her body, culminating in her death on March 17, 2022, less than a year after her initial diagnosis.
