While riding in a bike lane, he was confronted with an unexpected obstacle: “The bike lane I was riding in was suddenly blocked with cones, and I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon,” he shared on Instagram. The result? A painful scrape on his arm, and a sinking suspicion he had broken it.

While the next day brought some comfort as he initially felt improved, everything took a turn on Saturday afternoon. “I started having these weird chest pains,” Pintauro explained. He mistook the discomfort for a reactivation of his hiatal hernia, but it soon escalated to a dire situation—“the pain was so significant all across my chest and stomach muscles that I could barely breathe. It was the worst moment of my life.”

After being rushed to the hospital, doctors discovered a serious condition: “I had an infection in my bloodstream due to a tear in my stomach lining—air and stomach acid were escaping into my abdomen,” he revealed. It was a shocking and potentially fatal situation that required immediate medical intervention. Pintauro successfully underwent emergency surgery, which he reported “went well.” Although he is now recovering and the intense pain has subsided, he is left feeling very sore.

As part of his recovery, Pintauro shared a challenging aspect of his post-surgery care: “They just took the intubation tube out, but I have to leave another tube in my stomach for three days to keep removing the acids so as to not upset the stitches and repair they did. This means I won't be able to eat or drink anything during that time.”

Pintauro emphasized the seriousness of his condition, stating, “If I had waited any longer, I could have died.
