Groundbreaking Study Reveals Health Impacts
A groundbreaking study presented at the recent 2025 Society of Gynecologic Oncology Annual Meeting has unveiled concerning revelations about treatment impacts on the quality of life (QOL) for cervical cancer patients. The GOG-0263 trial, a randomized Phase 3 study, identified that patients receiving chemoradiation experienced a more significant decline in QOL compared to those undergoing radiation therapy alone.
Trial Details
In this trial, which involved patients with intermediate risk stage I and IIA cervical cancer who underwent radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy, researchers tracked the patient-reported outcomes over time. Initial FACT-Cx TOI QOL scores showed a baseline of 80.1 for the chemoradiation group versus 83.3 for the radiation-only group.
