SINGAPORE: Starting January 2, 2024, ComfortDelGro, one of the nation's top taxi operators, will implement a significant increase in fares for its luxury taxi services. This change was officially communicated through a Facebook post on December 26, detailing upcoming fare adjustments across various categories.

At 6 am on January 2, all luxury taxis will see their departure fare increase from S$4.80 to S$5.50. This marks a notable rise in the cost of using premium taxi services. Moreover, the cost per kilometer and waiting fees will slightly increase, moving from S$0.36 to S$0.38.

In addition to these changes, point-to-point charges, airport surcharges, and hourly booking fees for luxury taxis will all see an increase of S$5. This includes a steep rise in the surcharge for extra passengers; the fee for a fifth passenger in six-seater and seven-seater vehicles will jump from S$3 to an eye-watering S$9 per trip!

ComfortDelGro asserts that this fare hike is essential for assisting drivers in coping with the continually increasing operational costs, as well as ensuring that drivers are fairly compensated for their services.
