Deepal Makes a Splash in Singapore with New Showroom Opening!
Deepal, an emerging player in the electric vehicle market from China, officially launched its operations in Singapore with a grand showroom opening on March 27 at Alexandra Road. The showroom is situated on the second floor of a significant facility managed by Premium Automobiles, with the popular Chinese electric vehicle brand, Xpeng, taking pride of place on the first floor.
State-of-the-Art Showroom Features
The new Deepal showroom is designed to impress, featuring space for 12 cars, a comfortable customer lounge, a kid-friendly play area, and a café, ensuring an enjoyable experience for families and car enthusiasts alike. Additionally, the building will accommodate a service center catering to both Deepal and Xpeng vehicles.
Meet Deepal: The Brand Behind the Name
Deepal is a division of the esteemed Changan Automobile, one of China's "Big Four" state-owned automotive manufacturers alongside Dongfeng, SAIC Motor, and FAW Group. While the brand's name translates to "Deep Blue" in Chinese, its English moniker has yet to be fully explained.
Initially focused on the development of hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, Deepal transitioned into full-scale vehicle manufacturing, rebranding as Deepal in 2022. Since launching its exports in 2023, the brand has already established itself in markets like Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Nepal, and Pakistan, with Singapore being the newest addition.
Introducing the Deepal S07: A Game-Changer in the EV Market
Deepal’s first offering in Singapore is the S07, a mid-size electric SUV that first created a buzz at the Singapore Motor Show earlier this year. With a launch price of $220,999 including the Certificate of Entitlement (COE), the S07 enters a competitive segment alongside other electric SUVs like the Hyptec HT Premium and BYD Sealion 7.
The Deepal S07 boasts a distinctive coupe-SUV design and an expansive 2,900mm wheelbase that promises generous interior space. Standout features include a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that tilts towards the driver or passenger and an augmented-reality head-up display for real-time road and navigation information.
Under the hood, the S07 is powered by a single electric motor fed by a 79.7 kWh battery, delivering a potent output of 160kW (218hp) and 320Nm of torque. According to Deepal, a fully charged S07 can travel up to an impressive 475km, catering to the modern driver's need for range and reliability.
Exciting Upcoming Models from Deepal
During the showroom launch, Deepal also teased two additional models set to hit the Singapore market later this year. The S05, a compact SUV, is expected to target the COE Category A segment, positioning it against Singapore's sales champion, the BYD Atto 3.
The more intriguing reveal was the E07, branded as a utility vehicle. This unique model features a retractable glass window that transforms the vehicle into a flatbed cargo area, reminiscent of a pickup truck. Currently pending approval from local authorities, Deepal is optimistic about classifying the E07 as a passenger vehicle when it eventually makes its debut in Singapore.
This bold entry into Singapore's electric vehicle market signals Deepal’s ambitions and set the stage for heightened competition among local and international automakers.
Stay tuned as Deepal continues to innovate and expand, promising to make a significant mark in the EV landscape of Singapore!
