SINGAPORE – In a surprising turn of events, a fire engine found itself in a tricky situation on April 9 during a familiarization trip in the Tengah Housing Board estate. The vehicle's front wheels sunk into the ground of an accessway designated for fire trucks, leaving onlookers and social media users buzzing.

Dramatic photos flooding social media show muddy tracks and a grass patch damaged by the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the situation was handled swiftly.

What Happened?

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) explained that the fire engine had just wrapped up a routine hydrant testing session in the Bukit Timah area, specifically on Swiss Club Road. Following this, the crew headed to Plantation Grove in Tengah to familiarize themselves with the local area.

After driving approximately 300 meters down the designated fire accessway near Block 120A Tengah Drive, the vehicle unexpectedly became immobilized as its front wheels sank significantly into the soft ground in front of Block 121C.

Swift Recovery Efforts!

Quick-thinking SCDF officers teamed up with a vehicle contractor to rescue the stricken fire engine, ensuring that the crew safely made their way back to the station. In a statement, a spokesperson from Chua Chu Kang Town Council revealed that they have already contacted the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to address the damage, and reinstatement work is scheduled to be completed by April 12. The incident, though inconvenient, turned out to be a sharp reminder of the challenges that can arise even in the most routine of tasks.
