Fann Wong Takes a Unique Approach to Help Son Build Stress Resilience During Exams!

2024-10-02

As the primary school examination season approaches, renowned actress Fann Wong has shared her refreshing stance on handling academic pressures with her son Zed, who is only 10 years old. During a recent interview, Fann, 53, opened up about how both she and Zed remain calm and composed, stating, "Both of us are not stressed because we have the ability to handle it, and he is only in Primary 4 now. My goal is to maintain this stress-free process as he navigates his exams."

In a testament to her commitment to supporting her son, Fann has decided to skip the prestigious Golden Bell Awards held in Taiwan on October 18 and 19. Instead, she prioritizes being there for Zed during this crucial time, indicating that family comes first.

At a recent event marking the grand opening of the Nailz Haus' Mandarin Gallery salon, Fann elaborated on her unconventional approach to her son's studies. "I don't really help much in terms of studying," she admitted with a laugh. "My presence alone serves as moral support — he knows that if he's feeling overwhelmed or struggling with his homework, he has me to lean on, but I'm not the one hovering over his shoulder."

Despite her laid-back approach, Zed is not without diligence; he regularly participates in his revisions. Fann emphasized the importance of teaching her son how to navigate his emotions during challenging times. "There's not much we can do except train his stress resilience," she explained. "It's essential for children to experience a bit of stress; it prepares them for life's challenges without letting it overwhelm them."

Fann's husband, actor Christopher Lee, shares similar sentiments. In a previous interview, he highlighted that their parenting philosophy does not revolve around undue academic pressure. "We don’t impose targets on Zed for his grades," Christopher stated. "Instead, the focus is on learning and making the process enjoyable. If he does well, we celebrate. If there's room for improvement, we cheer him on to do better."

As they look forward to Zed's Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) in two years, Fann admitted that while she feels the buzz of tension from other parents, she aims to approach it with a relaxed mindset. "I hope that in two years, I can be more chill as Zed faces his exams," she shared.

This perspective on nurturing emotional health during academic challenges is becoming increasingly relevant, especially as parents navigate the pressures of modern educational systems. Fann Wong's approach could serve as a guiding example for many parents looking to foster resilience in their children without compromising their mental well-being.
