SHOCKING Incident in Tengah Housing Estate!

SINGAPORE – In a surprising turn of events, a fire engine found itself in a tight spot during a routine familiarization trip at a Tengah Housing Board estate on April 9.

Eyewitnesses captured dramatic photos showing the aftermath, with a grass patch marred by tire marks and mud splattered across a nearby wooden path.

What Happened?

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire engine had just finished conducting hydrant testing in the Swiss Club Road area around 5:45 PM. The crew was then scheduled to head to Plantation Grove to familiarize themselves with the local terrain.

But disaster struck when the engine traveled approximately 300 meters along an accessway near Block 120A Tengah Drive, only for its front wheels to suddenly sink into the ground right in front of Block 121C!

No Injuries, But Quick Action!

Fortunately, SCDF reported that no one was injured during this unexpected mishap. The determined crew quickly collaborated with a vehicle contractor to rescue the stuck fire engine before returning to the station.

SCDF Takes Action to Prevent Future Incidents!

In response to the incident, the SCDF is now working closely with the town council to restore the damaged grass patch and ensure that the accessway is reinforced to handle the weight of their 30-tonne engines. This improvement is crucial to maintain quick emergency response times.
