Former PM Ismail Sabri Promises Full Cooperation in MACC Investigation of RM177 Million Corruption Case

PUTRAJAYA, March 13 — In a significant turn of events, former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has expressed his unwavering commitment to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as he undergoes questioning in connection with a massive RM177 million loot haul.

After his initial questioning session at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, which concluded at around 3 PM, Ismail announced that he would return the following morning for further inquiries. "I was at the MACC's headquarters to provide a statement, and I will continue to cooperate with the authorities until the investigation is completed," he stated, emphasizing his willingness to assist in the probe.

Sources from within the MACC suggest that Ismail was permitted to leave the questioning session due to health concerns stemming from a recent hospitalization. Just a month ago, he experienced severe complications from high blood pressure, leading to a brief stay in the hospital following a collapse at his residence.

The ongoing investigation centers on four of Ismail's former senior officers, who are implicated after MACC raids uncovered an astonishing RM170 million in cash along with 16 kilograms of gold bars at their homes and other locations during the time of Ismail's hospitalization.

Notably, Ismail Sabri is now the third former Malaysian Prime Minister under scrutiny for corruption charges after leaving office, following his predecessors, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. This investigation marks a significant moment in Malaysia's political landscape, raising questions about corruption at the highest levels of government.

As the MACC continues its thorough investigation, the nation watches closely, anticipating further developments in a case that could have profound implications for Malaysian politics and governance. Stay tuned as we follow this unfolding story!
