SINGAPORE: Amid the festive atmosphere of the Hari Raya weekend, a wave of new political figures has been seen actively engaging with residents across Singapore, signaling the momentum building for the forthcoming General Election. The Elections Department recently announced an increase in the election expense limit from S$4 to S$5 per voter, alongside the designation of Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) to ensure representation for Malay, Indian, and other minority communities.

Dinesh Vasu Dash (People's Action Party - PAP)
Former CEO of the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), Dinesh Vasu Dash, was recently spotted at a mosque visit in Chai Chee alongside prominent PAP leaders including Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. With a rich background in public service, Mr. Dash has been instrumental in various initiatives such as Healthier SG and Age Well SG. His previous experience spans over two decades in the Singapore Armed Forces, showcasing his deep-rooted commitment to community welfare and health services.
Syed Harun Alhabsyi (PAP)
Psychiatrist and former Nominated Member of Parliament, Dr. Syed Harun Alhabsyi, has been making waves in the Nee Soon GRC. Frequently seen with Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam, his active presence reflects a strategic bid for candidacy under the PAP banner following his recent departure from NMP status. Dr. Harun leads The Starfish Clinic, specializing in mental health, and his local appearances reinforce his commitment to understanding community needs.
Elmie Nekmat (PAP)
Associate Professor Elmie Nekmat was spotted spreading cheer in Sengkang GRC by distributing teddy bears to children. A long-time PAP activist and an influential figure in academia at the National University of Singapore, Dr. Nekmat is also involved in numerous boards, demonstrating his multi-faceted community engagement. His goal is to help regain the GRC from the opposition Workers' Party after a challenging previous election cycle.
Hazlina Abdul Halim (PAP)
Madam Hazlina Abdul Halim has become a familiar face in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC, advocating alongside MPs and attending community events.
