In a surprising twist in the Russian tech landscape, Pavel Prass, one of the influential co-owners of Yandex — often referred to as Russia's Google — is ramping up his investment in the competing tech giant VK. This bold maneuver was disclosed in a VK statement released on Friday.

The backdrop of this power shift comes from a landmark deal completed in July 2024, where a consortium of Russian investors acquired Yandex's local assets in a deal valued at a staggering $5.4 billion.
