In a dramatic turn of events that has left Malaysian authorities on high alert, the police are currently in search of a dark-coloured Toyota Hilux after its driver dangerously evaded capture during a thrilling 180km chase across state lines, from Johor to Kuala Lumpur.

The exhilarating chase began in the wee hours of November 20 when Muar police spotted the pickup truck careening through a red light on Jalan Bakri. At approximately 2:45 am, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver chose to speed away, igniting a pursuit that would involve multiple police units.

Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, the officer in charge of the Muar district, disclosed that as the chase escalated toward the Melaka state line, they swiftly requested assistance from local law enforcement.

"In Melaka, the driver hit the toll barrier at the Jasin toll booth before recklessly entering the North-South Expressway," he reported.

In an astonishing display of persistence, the police dispatched a total of nine patrol cars to subdue the rogue driver.

However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the vehicle crashed through the barrier at the Sungai Besi toll plaza, then audaciously drove up a steep cliff—maneuvering in ways that left the police vehicles powerless to follow.

In a final attempt to evade capture, the driver swerved into the opposite lane of Jalan Chan Sow Lin in Kuala Lumpur, showcasing a blatant disregard for safety and traffic laws.

Authorities are now mobilizing all resources to locate the missing vehicle and apprehend the suspect.

The ongoing investigation is reportedly focusing on violations under Section 186 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The police are urging anyone with information about the truck or its driver to come forward, and have established a hotline at the Muar police district headquarters for tips.

This incident not only raises questions about road safety and police response but also highlights the ongoing battle against reckless driving in Malaysia.

Stay tuned as this story unfolds, and let's hope for a swift conclusion!
