Former Mediacorp star Huang Shinan is back in the spotlight, shaking off ten years in the shadows to return to the world of acting! After stepping away in 2007 for family commitments, the 63-year-old actor has reignited his passion for performance with a role in the recent Mediacorp drama, Never Too Late.

In his first television role since 2014's You Can Be An Angel, Huang was understandably apprehensive before stepping on set. "I worried that after so long, I might struggle to find my footing again," he confessed. However, to his relief, Huang felt right at home on his first day back, which reignited his love for the craft he had once called home.

Despite his long absence, Huang never really left the entertainment scene. He often practiced lines and engaged in script discussions with his actress wife, Pan Lingling, who is 54 and a dedicated support system throughout his years away from acting. Their dynamic relationship has clearly played a pivotal role in keeping Huang's passion alive.

Huang made the difficult choice to leave Mediacorp 16 years ago, driven by a desire to prioritize his family. He and Lingling, who married in 1997, share two sons: Beckham, now 27, and Kynaston, 22. "At the time, I realized that if we were both constantly working in showbiz, our kids would miss out on essential aspects of their childhood," Huang explained. "After weighing the importance of their upbringing against my career, the choice was clear."

Fast forward to today, and with his children now grown, Huang feels it's time to embrace acting again. He revealed that when the opportunity arose to portray Lingling's on-screen husband in Never Too Late, it felt like the perfect moment for his return. "It was a good fit, and I thought it was a fun twist," he remarked with enthusiasm.

Although he continues to run his event management company, Huang strives to balance work with joy, remarking on how crucial it is to savor life’s moments.
