Yang Dong Geun, renowned actor and rapper, made headlines this month with his inspiring visit to a Houston, Texas prison, where he brought hope and encouragement to over 100 inmates. Serving as an ambassador for Prison Fellowship Korea (PFK), his presence was an emotional highlight for both inmates and staff.

Joined by Jay Won, the Secretary General of PFK in the U.S., Yang participated in a Sunday worship service, where he not only shared uplifting messages but also performed a song that resonated deeply with the inmates. The lyrics conveyed themes of healing and liberation, echoing sentiments found in scripture. "Healing the brokenhearted, proclaiming freedom for captives, and release for the imprisoned," the song's message reverberated throughout the facility, evoking a moving response from the audience. Prison Fellowship International (PFI), the organization behind this initiative, is the largest prison ministry in the world, founded in 1979 by Charles Colson, a former advisor to President Nixon. With a mission to offer support and rehabilitation to incarcerated individuals, PFI collaborates with organizations in over 120 countries, promoting restorative justice and healing.

The Korean branch, PFK, was established just last year under the leadership of Kwak Sung Hoon, with Yang actively championing its initiatives. His dedication is evident, as he previously performed at the Yeoju Somang Correctional Institution's summer retreat, where 347 inmates joined in singing the hymn "Siloam."
