J-Hope's Acts of Philanthropy During Military Service

As the discharge date for BTS member J-Hope approaches, heartwarming stories about his acts of philanthropy are surfacing, showcasing the idol's dedication to kindness even while serving in the military.

Service and Advocacy for Animals

Since enlisting in April last year, J-Hope has been serving as an assistant instructor at the 36th Infantry Division’s recruit training center, with his discharge scheduled for October 17. Throughout his service, he has remained a compassionate advocate for abandoned dogs, earning admiration from many.

Support for Stray Dog Shelter

Recent reports reveal that J-Hope has been a silent benefactor for a stray dog shelter in Imkok, Busan for the past three years. This month, he delighted the shelter by donating pet food in celebration of Chuseok, a traditional harvest festival. One of the volunteers at the center expressed heartfelt gratitude in a blog post, stating, "J-Hope never forgets to send food for the dogs. Just before Chuseok, his mother contacted us to arrange another donation, and we truly appreciate his unwavering support. The staff often comments on how fortunate they feel whenever a delivery arrives."

Improving the Shelter's Conditions

J-Hope’s noble intentions were initially private, but the shelter made them public to highlight the impact of his contributions. He began supporting the center after learning of its dire conditions in February 2022, contributing funds to construct ten new dog shelters and provide food for the animals. Since then, his regular donations have significantly improved the center’s situation.

In a further demonstration of his generosity, in September 2023, J-Hope sent a food truck to a volunteer site for the Korea Animal Hospital Association, which was conducting spaying and neutering surgeries for abandoned animals, offering support and warmth during their efforts.
