Gong Hyo Jin Breaks Silence on Challenging Production

In a candid YouTube update, Gong Hyo Jin, the leading star of the highly anticipated K-Drama 'When The Stars Gossip,' shared the immense challenges she faced during filming. The series, which promised an extravagant space adventure, instead became a target for disappointment among fans and critics alike.

Behind-the-Scenes Struggles

In her video titled "Something I Really Wanted To Talk About, Though It’s Late," Gong revealed that shooting the complex zero-gravity scenes was more taxing than anyone realized. With grueling 15-hour days often spent suspended mid-air, the actress described battling severe discomfort and exhaustion.

"Honestly, with the exception of just one episode set on Earth, every other scene took place in space. Filming these zero-gravity segments was no easy feat; one episode alone took more than two months to complete! I often shouted, ‘Please let me down now!’ due to poor blood circulation. I can hardly believe I got through an entire year of this!"

A Shocking Reception

Despite a whopping 50 billion KRW (around $35.1 million USD) budget, 'When The Stars Gossip' received brutal reviews and was infamously branded as 'the worst K-Drama ever.' The convoluted plot left many viewers scratching their heads, prompting concerns from Gong herself.

"The storyline was quite complex, and I worried it might not be easy for viewers to follow. Every aspect of production felt new. It made me wonder if pre-production efforts had to be so extensive, with some segments taking up to two years of post-production work to finalize."

A Humor Amidst the Struggles

Gong Hyo Jin humorously added, "I doubt anyone will dare to make another space show for a while," highlighting the overwhelming challenges they faced.
