Shocking Harassment at Lion Dance Competition!

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, a lion dance troupe in Punggol found themselves at the center of a bizarre family feud that led to police intervention. On April 6, a couple allegedly harassed troupe members, including their own niece, during a spirited competition.

The drama unfolded when 52-year-old Lim Sok Lay was caught on camera in a fiery exchange with a troupe member, spewing vulgarities that quickly went viral online.

An Unexpected Family Reunion Gone Wrong!

The niece, 27-year-old Esther Lim, expressed her disbelief. "We haven't spoken in 15 years! Why would they show up now?" As tensions escalated, she described how her uncle started a commotion when they arrived at the venue.

"I told him I had no time for this, and he got angry, pushing my friend and bumping into me. Thankfully, my friend intervened," Esther recalled.

A Disturbance That Just Wouldn't End!

Mystifyingly, the couple returned later, with Lim showing up alongside her daughter to continue their confrontation. After a series of provocations, the lion dance troupe had to call the police to restore order.

The NamYang Lion Dance Centre issued a statement, clarifying that the couple's disruptions stemmed from personal issues, with multiple incidents occurring throughout the day.

Video Sparks Outrage: Context Is Key!

The troupe defended their member, stating that the viral video did not capture the full context. It was a reaction in "self-defense" after relentless harassment, and they expressed regret over the confrontation.

Audience Disturbed by Madness!

Not just the troupe felt the couple's wrath; spectators were also targeted. Viewers were outraged when 27-year-old Fu Yangjun reported that the couple filmed his children during the competition.

"Why are they filming my kids? It has nothing to do with them!" Fu exclaimed about the invasion of privacy.

A Pattern of Disruption!

This isn't the first time Lim and her husband, Cheang Eng Hock, have stirred the pot in the lion dance community. Last July, they reportedly caused chaos by pouring coffee over a cherished lion dance costume at another venue.

As the dust settles, one can only wonder: Will this family drama escalate further, or has the troupe finally put their foot down?
