In a troubling turn of events, Thai authorities have confirmed that Chinese actor Wang Xing, also known as Xingxing, has gone missing after reportedly crossing into Myanmar. Efforts are now underway by both Thai and Myanmar officials to locate the 31-year-old star, who vanished under mysterious circumstances.

The Thai police have indicated that there is currently no evidence to suggest that Wang was forcibly taken to Myanmar; rather, it appears his trip was voluntary. A police spokesman noted on Tuesday that initial investigations suggest Wang embarked on this journey alone, armed only with a rucksack.

Wang Xing arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok around 3 a.m. last Friday after flying in from Shanghai Pudong Airport for an audition. Following his arrival, he traveled to Mae Sot district in Tak province, where he was last seen around 10:10 a.m. the same day, as captured by CCTV footage. Authorities believe he likely crossed the border from Ban Mae Kon Ken in the tambon Mahawan area.

In an additional effort to find him, Thai officials have reached out to appropriate authorities in Myanmar, requesting their assistance in the search. Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Bangkok, along with the Chinese consulate-general in Chiang Mai province, has expressed commitment to aiding in the investigation as Wang's family reported his disappearance.

Police have been meticulous in their investigation, interviewing the chauffeur who drove Wang from the airport to Tak, who remains the only known witness in this case. Authorities are still determining whether Wang Xing used an official border crossing when leaving Thailand for Myanmar.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Pol Lt Gen Archayon Krathong stated, "The top priority now is to locate him." He assured that there are no current indications of coercion or assault, quelling fears of potential human trafficking.
