A Historic Achievement for Nio

In a groundbreaking development for the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Nio has officially celebrated its 100,000th vehicle delivery in Shanghai—its global headquarters. This remarkable feat underscores Nio's dominance in a city rapidly becoming synonymous with electric innovation.

Leading the Charge in Shanghai's EV Market

Since 2024, Nio has established itself as a powerhouse in Shanghai's automotive landscape, with the company accounting for one out of every three pure electric vehicles sold in the city priced above 300,000 yuan (around $41,140). This milestone solidifies Nio's status as the first Chinese brand to achieve such a significant delivery count.

A Celebration of Community and Growth

Founder and CEO William Li shared this momentous occasion via a heartfelt video on Weibo, a testament to the close connection between Nio and its community. Beyond the numbers, Nio has cultivated an enthusiastic fan base, boasting over 10 car clubs and 500 user communities in Shanghai.

The EV-Friendly Environment of Shanghai

Shanghai's proactive approach to promoting electric vehicles has been instrumental in Nio's success. The city offers free green license plates for EVs while making the transition to gasoline or hybrid cars much more costly. In March, the auction for blue plates reached an eye-popping minimum of 94,100 yuan.

Subsidies and Battery Swap Stations Transforming Ownership

In a bid to enhance the EV ecosystem, Shanghai recently expanded its trade-in subsidy to non-locally registered vehicles, allowing them to benefit from up to 15,000 yuan back. This, coupled with a robust infrastructure of 187 battery swap stations in the city, positions Nio for unparalleled growth.

An Impressive Service Network

Nio's battery swap stations have already delivered over 7.66 million battery swaps! With an average of more than 9,000 swaps daily, the stations are nearing profitability—a clear indication of the growing adoption of Nio's battery exchange service.

Looking Ahead: New Leadership and Continued Innovation

With recent leadership updates, including Stanley Qu overseeing Nio Power, the company looks poised to continue its aggressive expansion in the EV market. As more battery swap stations are set to open, the future seems bright for both Nio and its loyal customers.
