Nio and Sinopec Formalize a Strategic Partnership

In an exciting development for electric vehicle (EV) owners, Nio and China’s oil behemoth Sinopec have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing charging services across the nation. This collaboration builds on a successful history of joint ventures, including the construction of 279 charging and battery swap stations over the past three years.

Easier Charging Access for Nio Users

On September 25, 2023, Nio announced that users would now be able to easily locate and utilize Sinopec’s nationwide charging stations through the Nio App, in-vehicle screens, and the Jiadian App developed by Nio itself. This significant partnership is expected to provide added convenience for Nio drivers, especially as they prepare for upcoming holiday trips during China's National Day, celebrated from October 1-7.

Elevating User Experience During National Day Holidays

With the National Day holiday around the corner, which requires additional work days on September 29 and October 12, the timing of this announcement couldn't be better. Nio’s partnership with Sinopec is set to facilitate smoother travels, ensuring that EV users can recharge without hassle.

A Strong Collaborative History

Sinopec, one of the largest state-owned energy corporations in China, has been collaborating with Nio since 2021 when they signed a strategic agreement to enhance charging infrastructure. The partnership inaugurated its first second-generation battery swap station at a Sinopec gas station in Beijing, showcasing the commitment of both companies to support the growing EV market in China.

Impressive Growth in Charging Infrastructure

As of April 2023, the duo had successfully established 102 battery swap stations within a two-year timeframe. Currently, Nio boasts an impressive portfolio, with a total of 279 charging facilities in collaboration with Sinopec, including 119 battery swap stations and 160 conventional charging stations spread across 29 provincial regions.
