Oppo's Bold Move in Premium Smartphones

Chinese tech giant Oppo is making waves in the high-end smartphone arena with its latest releases, as it sharpens its focus on mobile imaging technology amidst fierce competition.

A Surge in Sales Following Strategic Partnerships

This strategy follows a surge in demand for premium smartphones, buoyed by favorable Chinese government policies aimed at boosting consumer electronics sales.

Liu Bo, President of Oppo China, emphasized the brand's impressive performance within the 4,000-6,000 yuan ($550-$820) price bracket, revealing that sales for the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro have outpaced competitors, especially after recent government subsidies.

Premium Segment Takes Center Stage!

Liu pointed out the growing importance of the over 4,000 yuan segment, which now makes up almost a third of China's smartphone market with over 90 million units sold annually. This premium sector has thrived even when the overall market faces stagnation.

Investing in Innovation and Local Markets

He noted that Oppo is ramping up investment in research and development, technology, marketing, and building strategic partnerships to strengthen its foothold in this lucrative segment.

Internationally, Oppo is also gaining traction in high-end markets. According to data from analyst firm Canalys, the brand is one of the top three in six Asia-Pacific regions—including Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam—within the above-$600 price category. In Mexico, Oppo stands as a close competitor to Apple in terms of average selling price.

Localized Strategies for Emerging Markets

To further capitalize on emerging markets, Oppo is deploying specialized teams to conduct localized market research, ensuring products resonate with regional preferences.
