The New York-based event-planning app, Partiful, has officially been crowned Google's "App of the Year" for 2024. This recognition was revealed on Monday as part of Google's much-anticipated annual list of the best apps and games. Founded in 2020 by talented Palanitr alumni Joy Tao and Shreya Murthy, Partiful has rapidly gained popularity, especially among Gen Z users. The app allows users to create personalized event pages and invite friends easily through a simple link, which can be shared via text. While it's not required for users to have the app to respond to invitations, event organizers can use it for features like managing RSVPs, sending updates, uploading photos, and even fundraising or limiting guest numbers.

Impressive Metrics

By the close of 2023, Partiful reported monthly active users amounting to millions, signaling its growing traction despite being a newcomer in the industry. Interestingly, the app's user base is predominantly on iOS, with data from analytics firm Appfigures showing that out of over a million downloads this year, approximately 95% were from the Apple App Store. In total, Partiful has crossed the 1.28 million download mark globally, but only a small fraction of that, roughly 57,835 downloads, stem from Android users.

Funding Success

Partiful's impressive journey includes a $20 million Series A1 funding round led by the renowned venture capital firm, Andreessen Horowitz, in late 2022. This injection of capital brought the total funding for the startup to a staggering $27.34 million and pre-money valuation to $120 million, according to PitchBook data. Other notable investors joined the funding round, including Abstract Ventures, Initialized Capital, ACME Capital, GV, New Enterprise Associates, and Benchmark.

Popularity in the U.S.

The app has been particularly embraced in the U.S., with an astounding 92% of its App Store downloads coming from there. Its weekly downloads have quadrupled this year, experiencing a notable spike on November 1, which alone accounted for 71,000 downloads.
