Symptoms and Diagnosis

Jealene's mother, Melisa, recounts the family's shock as they first noticed alarming symptoms in late 2023. Initially, it started with red spots appearing on her face whenever she cried. What seemed like a minor issue escalated; the spots multiplied and spread across her body, prompting the family to seek medical attention.

Doctors in Surabaya, Indonesia, considered various possible causes for the spots, including allergies and hemangiomas. However, a complete blood test on April 1, 2024, revealed the devastating diagnosis of leukemia, indicated by elevated white blood cell counts and low platelet levels. This prompted the family to rush Jealene to the National University Hospital for specialized care.

Urgent Need for Treatment

In a desperate plea for help, Melisa shared that Jealene requires immediate chemotherapy and a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) within the next few months to have a chance at survival. The projected cost for these life-saving treatments exceeds S$330,000.
