Revolutionary 298X Express Feeder Service Set to Transform Commutes for Tampines Residents!
SINGAPORE: Get ready for a commuting revolution! SBS Transit has just announced that starting December 9, residents in Tampines North and Tampines West will benefit from Singapore's very first express feeder service, the 298X. This game-changing route aims to significantly cut down commuting times by providing a direct connection to the bustling Tampines town centre and transport hub.
Service 298X will cater to a select number of bus stops along the established route of its parent service, Service 298. Operating exclusively on weekdays during peak hours—except on public holidays—this new service will start and end at the Tampines North Bus Interchange, ensuring easy access for residents eager to make the most of this innovative transportation solution.
As part of the government's Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP), which was introduced last July by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), this initiative reflects a substantial investment in Singapore's public transport infrastructure. From 2024 to 2032, an impressive S$900 million has been earmarked to purchase new buses, improve existing infrastructure, and launch additional bus services.
But what makes Service 298X truly stand out? The express feeder concept is tailored for residents who live further away from major transport nodes. By taking more direct routes and featuring fewer stops than traditional feeder services, the 298X promises much shorter travel times. For instance, this service will only make stops at selected locations, including Bus Stops 76559, 76551, 76149, and 76141 along Tampines Ave 4 and Tampines Ctrl 1, ensuring quicker access for commuters.
The launch of Service 298X has been widely welcomed. Local residents have expressed their excitement, with one Reddit user stating that the existing Service 298 is often overcrowded and takes a lengthy detour through older estates. They noted that the new express feeder will not only provide a direct route to the interchange but will also alleviate congestion faced by passengers.
It's evident that residents have been eagerly anticipating improvements to their commuting experience, and the 298X is a significant step in the right direction. Moving forward, this service is likely to enhance the overall efficiency of public transport in the area, providing a much-needed boost to the community's connectivity.
Stay tuned for more updates on this and other transportation initiatives that are set to transform the way Singaporeans navigate their city!
