It's hard to believe that seven years have passed since the world lost SHINee's Jonghyun. Despite his absence, his music continues to resonate powerfully with fans around the globe, keeping his spirit alive.

On December 18, 2023, SM Entertainment paid tribute to Jonghyun on SHINee's official social media account, sharing a poignant photograph of him performing on stage. The heartfelt caption read, “We will always love you.” Fans flooded the post with messages filled with love and nostalgia, expressing their longing for the beloved artist. Notably, fellow SHINee member Minho also shared his sentiments with the message, “Love you so much,” reflecting the enduring grief felt by those close to him.

Since his debut in 2008, Jonghyun became a pivotal figure in the K-pop industry, known for his incredible vocal talent and emotional songwriting. Among his many hits with SHINee, songs like 'Replay', 'Ring Ding Dong', and 'Lucifer' helped pave the way for the 'contemporary band' concept in the world of K-pop. As a solo artist, he showcased his versatility with tracks like 'Déjà-Boo' and 'End of a Day,' while also lending his songwriting skills to other artists, including IU's poignant 'Gloomy Clock' and Lee Hi's soulful 'Breathe'.

Tragically, on December 18, 2017, Jonghyun's life came to a heartbreaking end when he was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, at the young age of 27. His struggle with depression became painfully evident in a farewell note he left behind, asking for recognition of his efforts and expressing a final goodbye: "Just tell me I did well. That I worked hard. Don’t blame me for leaving. I really worked hard. Goodbye."

In a beautiful gesture to honor his legacy, Jonghyun's family established the 'Shiny Foundation-For Always Jonghyun' in 2018. This foundation utilizes his songwriting royalties to provide scholarships and support to emerging artists facing difficulties, ensuring that Jonghyun's compassionate spirit continues to impact the music world.
